Dr. Johnston is a Diplomate of the American Board of Forensic Anthropology and a physical anthropologist with expertise in forensic anthropology and bio-archaeology. Her experience includes interpreting human remains from many contexts including 19th century cemeteries. She has directed an outdoor human decomposition facility and a human identification lab and has produced publications and given presentations on these topics. Dr. Johnston also has many years of experience with NAGPRA and culturally sensitive work with Native American human remains. She managed the production of NAGPRA inventories at the Ohio History Connection in the 1990s and carried out a cooperative agreement to document human remains curated at the Hopewell Culture National Historical Park in 2010. In her current position at the University of Cincinnati she serves as NAGPRA Coordinator and Tribal Liaison.
