This course will provide an introduction to the principles of forensic anthropology through an overview of the human skeleton and the ways in which its study is applied to death investigations. Participants will be introduced to the basics of bone biology through an overview of human osteology and skeletal identification, with specific emphasis placed upon discrimination between human and non-human animal remains. Lectures and discussion will explore growth and development, fragmented and cremated remains, skeletal diseases, and practical forensic applications through case reviews.
This course is IAI accredited (16 hours) for Crime Scene Certification.
